Rapist

What can one say about this piece? The subject is in a way self-explanatory. It of course is a comment on rape, male to female. That is not to say that there is no example of female to male rape, but on average this is the most familiar form. I wanted the male to be without race. He is a representation of all males. He has a teddy bear eye which is kitschy but at the same time it gives the predator dead unfeeling eyes. The text takes on the appearance of graffiti and the rapist appears to come out of the wall, nothing is really intended here except that the word "Rapist" reflects the criminal. I am not making a statement that rape is only reserved for gritty streets, but for my painting it served as a setting. I also wanted to show a real element to the crime so he is basically in the act of the rape itself.
